Aims and Objectives

To create awareness among farmer and other stakeholders about safe production of rice through guidance on proper agronomic practices and judicious use of Plant Protection Products (PPPs).

Coordinating and taking out trade delegations as and when such occasions and need arises.

Participate in International Trade Fairs/Exhibitions of repute and conducting Buyer/Seller Meetings, for augmenting external trade in rice from India.

Carrying out publicity campaigns on a regular basis overseas for creating awareness about Indian Basmati rice and its specialties to importers, dealers, consumers and Government agencies.

Collection, collation and analysis of statistical information about global scenario of production and trade of rice.

To organize seminars/ workshops / conferences within India on specific topics related to rice industry with specific emphasis on contemporary issues.

Regular liaison with State and Central Government agencies like APEDA, EIC, AGMARK, FSSAI, Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS), Indian Institute of Packaging (IIP), ICAR, IARI, State Agriculture Universities, Agriculture Departments, Indian Institute of Rice Research etc.

Assisting exporters in assessment and readressal of complaints.

Liaison with Government agencies concerning trade issues like incentives, financial assistance etc. available under various schemes

Dissemination among member exporters trade leads as and when received.

To undertake through Basmati export development (BEDF)/ICAR institution research projects as may be called for with regard to boosting exports.

To undertake the promotion and development of the supply chain of Basmati rice and in particular to promote , develop and coordinate integration of activities of diverse stakeholders such as consumers, farmers, millers, traders and exporters by bringing focus and objectivity thereto.
